	Why choose an ECA Approved Contractor? All ECA members have at least one years experience of electrical contracting, and have undergone rigorous inspection of their work and business procedures to ensure technical competence and business ability. All members' installation work must comply with the latest Wiring Regulations laid down by the British Standards Institute (BSI) and the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), or other relevant Building Regulations, British Standards and the ECA Code of Fair Trading.

	What Is Part P? Since January 2005 electrical installation work carried out in dwellings in England and Wales has been subject to Part P of the Building Regulations. Part P imposes the requirement that: "Reasonable provision shall be made in the design, installation, inspection and testing of electrical installations in order to protect persons from fire and injury." These requirements apply to all electrical installation work carried out in dwellings in England and Wales. Failure to meet these requirements is a criminal offence.
